The University of San Francisco Dons let out two weeks' worth of frustration Thursday evening as they blew out the Portland Pilots 104-70 in front of a home crowd at War Memorial Gym. The Dons had started conference play a disappointing 0-4, but finally got their first victory in easy fashion. The Pilots were within six points with 9:30 to go, but the Dons used a 16-0 near the end of the half to put the game out of reach.
The Dons surpassed reached the century mark in conference play for the first time since January 6, 2007 when they defeated San Diego 103-100 in overtime. The Dons got 19 points from Rashad Green, 16 points from Angelo Caloiaro and Dominique O'Connor, 11 points from Cole Dickerson and 10 points from Perris Blackwell. USF had season highs in field goal percentage (.672) and three-point percentage (.722).
The Dons resume WCC play Saturday, January 14 against Pepperdine at War Memorial Gym. Tip-off against the Waves is set for at 1:30 PM in a game televised live on Comcast SportsNet California.
