Oakland A's Minor League Affiliate Stockton Ports Heading For California League Championship

The Oakland Athletics might be out of the playoffs in 2011, but that hasn't stopped a few of their Minor League affiliates from making a deep playoff run. The Stockton Ports, the club's A-Ball team, has advanced to the California League Championship Series after defeating the San Jose Giants 4-2 on Tuesday night.

With the team trailing 2-1 in the bottom half of the seventh inning, Stockton came through with two runs against the Giants bullpen. Mitch LeVier singled on a line drive to right field to tie the score and a wild pitch brought home the go-ahead run in the next at-bat. After a quick shutdown half-inning in the eighth, the Ports took advantage of an error to drive in an insurance run. Closer Jose Guzman came into the ninth and recorded all three outs with allowing a base runner to clinch the divisional round.

After the big victory, the team will rest up for their championship series against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Best of luck, guys. Continue the great season and make A's fans proud.
