NASCAR At Pocono Raceway Results: Jeff Gordon Claims Sixth Place Following Birthday

Jeff Gordon turned 40 this past Thursday and he celebrated it with a strong finish at Pocono Raceay. NASCAR's second run at Pocono netted Gordon a sixth place finish as he managed to maintain his cushion in the buildup to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Gordon's sixth place finish netted him 38 points two months after he won the last NASCAR race at Pocono.

Gordon made a big move in the race as he started 31st after tagging the wall during his qualifying run. He put together a strong run and while he did not gain ground on Series leader Carl Edwards, he did gain some ground on sixth place. Matt Kenseth dropped a spot and currently leads Gordon by 26 points as the drivers continue to jostle for position.
