Raiders Agree To Terms With TE Kevin Boss

The Oakland Raiders have found their replacement for departed tight end Zach Miller and it will be former Giants tight end Kevin Boss. The Raiders have reportedly come to terms on a 4 year, $16 million contract with Boss. The fifth year pro will report to Napa immediately to begin preparations for the 2011 season.

The Raiders lost their leading receiver in Miller to the Seattle Seahawks and seemed to be stumbling trying to find a replacement. Boss was in for a visit but then it sounded like he was going to sign elsewhere. However, it sounds like the Raiders closed the deal and are ready to move forward. Boss has not been quite the pass catcher Miller was over the last few years, but he has emerged as a solid pass catcher and a great blocker.

It is interesting to note that while Boss has 107 fewer receptions that Miller over their respective four year careers, Boss has six more touchdowns. Maybe Boss can be the kind of tight end that can blow up in the red zone for the Raiders.
