2011 NFL Free Agency: 49ers Pursuing WR Malcom Floyd

The San Francisco 49ers are continuing to play the waiting game when it comes to adding free agents to their roster, but according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora the Niners are showing interest if wide receiver Malcolm Floyd, along with a number of other teams as well.

San Francisco will vie for his services along with his previous team the San Diego Chargers; while the Cardinals, Panthers, and Ravens are all in the mix as well according to La Canfora. Here's what he had to say about Floyd's current situation:

Floyd is one of the hotter commodities left on the open market, but he has taken his time with his decision. The Chargers would like to retain the nine-year NFL pro but other teams are interested as well.Several of the clubs involved are trying to rework contracts and massage their salary cap and budgets, sources said. The league year is set to open Thursday, and teams need to be in cap compliance by then.

I'm sure the 49ers would be glad to have him on their squad as he brings the winning mentality from San Diego along with him, not to mention all the time spent with one of the NFL's best signal callers in Phillip Rivers. He would join the battery alongside Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan and immediately would be the 49ers biggest receiver at 6'5" tall. Floyd has 134 career receptions with the Bolts for a total of 2,314 yards and 15 touchdowns.
