Giant Injury Update: Brian Wilson Hits the DL With Elbow Soreness

Well it’s official. Brian Wilson is on the disabled list.

The San Francisco giants All-Star close joins seemingly the rest of the entire team on the disabled list with soreness in his pitching elbow. His stint will be retroactive to August 16 when he began having problems, making him eligible on August 31 to return to the team.

Wilson will join Sergio Romo, the Giants other dominating presence in the bullpen, on the disabled list. With both of them out, it leaves the Giants dominant bullpen, a stronghold for the last two seasons, seemingly wide open and vulnerable without them.

The team could decide to wait one more day to put Wilson back on the squad when they can expand the roster on Spetember 1st, either way his time spent on the DL will be relatively short.

In a corresponding roster move the team had brought up Steve Edelfsen to replace Wilson in the bullpen.
