NFL Free Agents: Raiders Re-Sign Samson Satele, Others For O-Line Depth

The San Francisco Chronicle reported late Tuesday night that that the Oakland Raiders had resigned Samson Satele, as well as signing tackle Stephon Heyer, guard Justin Smiley and tackle Seth Wand.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported late Tuesday night that that the Oakland Raiders had resigned Samson Satele, as well as signing tackle Stephon Heyer, guard Justin Smiley and tackle Seth Wand. This after the Raiders lost Tight End Zach Miler to the Seattle Seahawks earlier today. Satele has been the Raider's center off and on since he was acquired from the Miami Dolphins in 2009. Samson Satele started 15 games for the Raiders last year, the Raider's best season since 2002.

Stephon Heyer has played his whole career for the Washington Redskins. The offensive tackle has played in 49 games, starting in 33 since 2007. Justin Smiley was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on July 28th. He signed a $25 million, 5 year contract with the Dolphins, and was traded to the Jaguars after two years. Tackle Seth Wand has been plying his trade in the UFL for the Florida Tuskers.

Outide of Samson Satele, these are depth signings, which ideally won't have much impact on the season. While none of these signings can make up what the Raiders got from Zach Miller, it's at least a positive signing for the Raiders.
