Giants vs. Braves, MLB Scores: Giants Leave Lincecum Hanging, Fall to Braves 1-0

Going into Thursday night the San Francisco Giants were looking to start a two-game winning streak and split a four game series with the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. Tim Lincecum was on the bump, and pitched another beautiful game, but unfortunately got left with no run support (again) as the Giants fell 1-0.

Lincecum (L 11-10) made only one mistake in his seven innings of work, a Chipper Jones homer in the bottom of the fifth, but was brilliant aside from that. Working out of the stretch the entire night, Timmy scattered 5 Braves hits along with only two walks, fanning seven along the way.

Cody Ross and Nate Schierholtz accounted for 4/5 of the Giants hits tonight, each with two hits. Ross' leadoff double in the first inning was the only extra base hit the team would get against Mike Minor (W 3-2), keeping the Giants scoreless in his six innings tonight, while striking out nine Giants to boot. Eric O'Flaherty, Johnny Venters and Craig Kimbrel closed out the game for Atlanta, with Kimbrel picking up his 37th save of the season.

With the loss the Giants move to 67-58 on the year, still 2.5 games behind the D'backs in the NL West. Full box score can be found here
