There are only a few recruits every year who everyone agrees can be the best high school prospect in the country. Eddie Goldman from Friendship Academy in Washington D.C. is one such individual. All the top services agree that Goldman is a can't miss player, someone who should thrive at the next level.

- ESPN: Top defensive tackle, 2nd best recruit overall in ESPNU 150
- Scout: 3rd best defensive tackle, 5 stars
- 247Sports: Top defensive tackle, 3rd best recruit in Top 247
So it comes as a HUGE surprise that Cal has made Goldman's final seven, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. The list also includes the Maryland Terrapins, Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes.
It was suspected that the presence of national recruiter of the year and Cal defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi would have some impact. But to still be in the game this late for the top defensive tackle in the country? This is uncharted waters for the Golden Bears to be in the race for a defensive line prospec.
