Giants vs. Braves, MLB Scores: Jonathan Sanchez Goes Down With Injury, Giants Fall in Extra Innings 2-1

After the barrage of injuries the Giants suffered over the past few days, the last thing they needed was a blow to the starting rotation. But, that injury bug refused to quit, taking Jonathan Sanchez as his latest victim as the Giants fell 2-1 in 11 innings at Turner Field.

Sanchez left after diving for an infield hit in the third, spraining his ankle in the process. He was looking alright in his short appearance, allowing one earned run on one hit with one walk in his two and 2/3 innings of work. From their the Giants kept the Braves off the board as Guillermo Mota, Jeremy Affeldt and Santiago Casilla pushed the game to extra innings.

As for the Braves’ Randall Delgado, he was on the verge of history tonight, keeping the Giants hitless until Cody Ross’ homer in the seventh tied the game at one a piece. Javier Lopez eventually took the loss for the Giants after giving up a Martin Prado RBI single to end the game; the second walk off win for Atlanta in as many nights.

With the loss the Giants move to 66-57 on the year, 3.5 games behind the Diamondbacks in the NL West. Full box score can be found here.
