Linebacker Aaron Maybin Has Interest In San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco appears to be one of the destinations that free agent linebacker Aaron Maybin has interest in signing with, according to the San Francisco Bee's Matt Barrows. Maybin was cut by the Buffalo Bills on Monday, which is the same day that the 49ers parted ways with their linebacker Thaddeus Gibson.

Maybin, 23, is a third-year player who spent his first two seasons with the Bills. The Penn State product was drafted in the first round with the 11th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Maybin had a decent rookie season, playing in all 16 regular season games while recording 18 tackles and one forced fumble. However, Maybin dropped off a bit last season when he played only 11 games and recorded only six tackles.

The Bills didn't get quite the defensive player they envisioned when they drafted Maybin, who was an impressive pass rusher at Penn State. Maybin, however, is still very young and could show progress in a different city. He is interested in the 49ers and a deal could prove mutually beneficial to both sides.
