Carlos Beltran Officially Placed on DL, Nate Schierholtz Has X-Ray on Foot

The injury woes for the San Francisco Giants keep on keepin’ on as trade deadline pickup and starting right fielder Carlos Beltran has officially been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to his nagging strained right hand.

Beltran injured himself back on August 7th against the Phillies, with his 15 day DL count retroactive to August 8th, making him eligible to return as soon as next Tuesday. Skipper Bruce Bochy and the Giants staff were hoping that the time off would have been enough for Beltran to fully recover, especially after making him ineligible for the four-game series down in Atlanta. In a corresponding roster move, the team activated Miguel Tejada instead of sending him to Double-A Richmond for assignment.

This blow in amplified with the news that the Giants other right fielder, Nate Schierholtz, will undergo an x-ray evaluation of his right foot after fouling a ball off of it during the eighth inning of Monday’s loss to the Braves. He may have broken his foot while doing so, but will have to wait for the results to find out.
