Giants vs. Marlins, Schedule Preview: Vogelsong Looks to Earn Series Win in Florida

After his 12 game unbeaten streak was snapped in his last outing against the Pirates, San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong is out to start a new streak, and give his team a much needed series win on the road against the Florida Marlins on Sunday.

Vogelsong (9-2 2.48 ERA) was a bit shaky in his last effort, giving up five earned runs in five innings, but still managed to strikeout eight along the way. Vogey has thrived on making adjustments during his outings to keep the hitters guessing and his pitches effective, but seemingly couldn't make the right ones against Pittsburgh earlier this week. He hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since May 3,  but has a 2.08 ERA in five career outings against Florida, while his 2.48 ERA is still fifth lowest in the majors as well.

The Marlins will send out righty Chris Volstad (5-8 5.58 ERA), making his first appearance with the club since being optioned to Triple-A New Orleans at the end of July. His last outing came July 22 when he threw five innings of four run ball on eight hits and four strikeouts.

First pitch is set for 10:10 am PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
