With the terrible brand of baseball the San Francisco Giants have been playing lately, it feels like any time they don't have a lead in a game it is already over. Case in point was Friday night's game, losing 2-1 with all the game's runs scored in the first inning. The Giants current losing ways have undoubtedly caused anxiety amongst players and fans alike, but can hopefully start a winning streak today at Sun Life Stadium.
The Giants will send out Tim Lincecum (10-9 2.69 ERA) to hopefully get the team a W, and is coming of a 3-1 victory against the Phillies at AT&T that kept them from being swept at home. He lasted seven and 2/3 innings, spraying seven hits with just the one run along with five strikeouts. Lincecum will try to keep his success against the Marlins tonight as he is 1-0 with a 3.14 ERA and a .160 batting average against in two career starts against them. Timmy will also have to battle the heat down in South Florida, as it is scheduled to be a muggy, hot evening in Miami.
As for the Fish, they will have Javier Vasquez ( 7-9 4.72 ERA) out on the mound today, who is also trying to continue his success as of late. He's 1-0 with 1.35 ERA over his last three starts, while holding opponents to just three runs over 20 innings during, along with 12 punch outs and seven walks.
First pitch is set for 4:10 pm PT this evening with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
