When Tiger Woods went on the DL after re-injuring himself at the Players Championship, many folks believed that he would sit out the whole year, especially after skipping out on both the U.S. and British Opens. But Tiger apparently has roared back to form and is ready to hit the links again, starting next week at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
Here's Tiger's official return tweet:
Feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!
Tiger has won this event 7 of the 11 times he's played it, although his 18 over-par score at Firestone Country Club last season marked his worst finish in a tournament ever in his professional career. And with all the hullaballoo surrounding Rory McIlroy these days, Tiger's return could mark the begining of an epic rivalry, but Tiger has to play true to form for that to happen.
But don't think Tiger isn't ready. He is. He wouldn't come back if he wasn't. He told everyone at the end of June he was going to wait until he was fully healthy, and he must be or he wouldn't be doing this. Plus bum leg or not, you know he was still practicing, especially at his ridiculous at-home practice facility in Florida.
