Giants vs. Tigers MLB Schedule Preview: San Francisco Looking To Close Road Trip Right

The Giants probably should have won the series over the Chicago Cubs. It's not like Brian Wilson to be giving up the long ball like that, and it seems like they really should have walked away with a 3-1 series win. But they didn't, Wilson DID give up the long ball and here they sit. As it happens, they sit in a pretty good place, up atop the NL West division, two games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

They're taking on the Detroit Tigers in this next series, three games to close out their current seven game road trip. The Tigers hold first place in their division, just a half a game over the Cleveland Indians. Detroit is coming off of a series loss to the Mets, losing games one and two in blowout fashion before taking game three, so whether or not they have "momentum" is open to interpretation.

It looks as though the Giants are going to go with a rotation of Madison Bumgarner, Barry Zito and Ryan Vogelsong, sticking with that rotation while they evaluate Zito following his return from the disabled list. The Tigers will be sending Brad Penny, Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello to the mound. The games are set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and we'll have previews and recaps of all of them, so stay tuned.
