The 2011 NCAA baeball tournament advances into the super regionals round on Friday June 10 with sixteen teams competing in eight best-of-three series. The Stanford Cardinal travel to Chapel Hill to face the University of North Carolina. The Cardinal battle UNC looking to earn a trip to their seventh College World Series appearance since 1999. The Cardinal are 12-4 in super regional play since 1999. UNC is looking for its fifth CWS appearance in six seasons.
UNC comes out of their region as a number one seed and the third seed overall in this tournament. The Cardinal were a two seed in their region and will have to win at Chapel Hill if they want to advance to the College World Series. The two teams last met when Stanford defeated the Tar Heels 7-4 in the 1999 regional round.
The best-of-three series kicks off Friday June 10 and all three games will be broadcast on the ESPN or ESPN2.
