The San Francisco Dons make their second ever NCAA tournament berth and don’t have to travel too far as they were assigned to the Los Angeles regional. UCLA is the host and will face the Dons in the first day of play. Fresno State and UC Irvine also join the field. USF will be looking for its first NCAA tournament victory as they were swept out by Miami (FL) and Manhattan College in 2006.
We’ll have more preview information in the next day or two, but for now here is a breakdown of the schedule of games. The regional consists of a double-elimination bracket from June 3 to June 5 or 6 (if necessary). The games kick off on Friday at Jackie Robinson Stadium. If Sunday’s winner’s bracket leaves two teams with one loss, the teams will play a final game on Monday evening. The winner of the LA regional would then advance to the super regional round to face the winner of the Charlottesville regional.
