NCAA Women's Softball Super Regional 2011, Results: Kentucky Defeats Cal, Evens Series 1-1

The California Golden Bears find themselves in a do-or-die situation in the super regional round of the 2011 NCAA Women’s Softball tournament. Kentucky defeated Cal 8-0 Sunday morning to even their best-of-three series at one game apiece. This followed Cal’s 1-0 victory Saturday morning. The two teams will square off in game three Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:30pm pacific. The game will be televised on ESPN and also be live streamed at ESPN3.com. The winner of the game will advance to the eight-team field in the Women’s College World Series.

Cal fell behind early in this one and could never bounce back. After a dominant performance from Jolene Henderson Saturday, the Bears pitcher struggled Sunday morning. She gave up three runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning, which created an inescapable hole for Cal. Kentucky pitcher Rachel Riley put together a solid performance as she scattered five hits and no runs. Her defense stepped up as she only struck out one batter.
