UC Berkeley's Charlie Wi Falls by One Stroke to David Toms at Colonial

The Bay Area was almost treated to it's second victory of the year by a local golfer on the PGA Tour, but instead will have to settle for second place.

UC Berkeley Alumni Charlie Wi had a three shot lead at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on Sunday, but David Tom's made a back nine comeback including a chip in eagle on the par 5 11th to take home the title. Toms began the weekend with back-to-back 62's, but allowed Wi to slip into the top spot Saturday after he posted an unfortunate 74. Both men battled it out all day, but Wi's four bogey's Sunday ensured he would have to settle for second best.

In the 13 starts Wi has made this season, this was his first top ten finish. The only other Bay Area golfer to win on tour this year was Nick Watney, taking home the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral at the beginning of March.
