Earthquakes vs. Revolution, MLS Preview: Quakes Going For Second Straight Win at Buck Shaw Stadium

The San Jose Earthquakes were headed in the wrong direction in the MLS standings for about the last month or so before they came up with a gutsy 3-0 victory over the Columbus Crew last week. Now they must refocus themselves to take on the ever dangerous New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium this evening.

This intra-conference matchup should prove to be a good one as both teams are coming off of important victories. The Quakes win last week was their first at home all season, while the Revolution notched back-to-back shutouts in their two previous matches, including a 1-0 home win against Vancouver.

If the Quakes wan’t to come out victorious they will have to look to the 2010 Golden Boot Award winner Chris Wondolowski. Wondo scored his fifth goal of the season against Columbus last match, his third in his last three matches. San Jose needs Wondo to score if they want to have a chance as they don’t have many options on offense when it comes to a consistent scorer. When Wondolowski plays great, the Quakes more often than not have a chance to take home the W.

Kick of is set for 7:30 PT this evening with coverage on CSN California and MLS Match Day Plus for paid subscribers.
