2011 Amgen Tour Of California: Course Route And Map

As the 2011 Amgen Tour of California kicks off on Sunday, the fine folks at amgentourofcalifornia.com have put together a course map that helps lay out the course the bicyclists will be following over the course of eight stages. The path laid out below can be seen in greater detail in a PDF of the map. The route includes numerous settings that afford the cyclists the opportunity to see some incredibly scenic parts of California. I'd imagine the cyclists might be just a little more concerned about what's going on around them, but it's still interesting to consider the many parts of California they'll get to see over the eight stages of the race.

In looking through the map, stage five will be the longest at 135.1 miles form Seaside to Paso Robles. The shortest stage is the individual time trial in Solvang and is only 15 miles. The next shortest stage is stage seven from Claremont to Mt. Baldy.
