Earthquakes vs. Whitecaps, MLS Preview: Quakes Looking to End Losing Streak in MLS Play

As the Vancouver Whitecaps FC return home to Empire Field to take on the San Jose Earthquakes, both teams are in the midst of unfortunate losing streaks they are both looking to snap. This Western Conference clash will hopefully have an eventual victor as someone has got to end their skid as of late, though the Quakes haven’t fared too well on the road.

Vancouver haven’t won in MLS play since their first match of the season, but are coming off a draw, their first road draw of 2011, with a scoreless match against Chicago. The Earthquakes had last weekend off after a third consecutive loss, falling 1-0 to Philadelphia Union in their last league action, but beat the Portland Timbers in a U.S. Cup match early last week.

2010 MLS Golden Boot Award winner Chris Wondolowski has been scoreless in his last few matches after starting the season with 3 goals in his first 3 matches. A Wondo strike would go far towards a San Jose win this evening, hopefully he can get himself some shots on goal.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 this evening and coverage can be found on CSN California or MLS Match Day Live for paid subscribers.
