The 2011 Masters, Live Coverage: Rory McIlroy Leads at -9, K.J. Choi, Geoff Ogilvy Giving Chase

Rory McIlroy is currently holding a one shot lead at -9 par on this Friday at the 2011 Masters, but a cast of notable names are lurking right behind him, looking to make a charge.

McIlroy has used birdies at 2 and 5 to extend his lead over K.J. Choi, currently at -8 par. Geoff Ogilvy has quietly been moving up the leaderboard today, making 3 birdies on his last six holds and currently sits at -6 par through 15 holes. His playing partner Phil Mickelson has not had as much success today as 4 bogeys and 4 birdies have him at even for the day at -2 par for the tournament.

Stockton native Ricky Barnes shot a -1 par 71 this morning to move to -5 par for the tournament and well be well positioned to do some work on moving day tomorrow. Thursday’s co-leader Alvaro Quiros is +2 par for the day through 14 holes, now at -5 par, formers Masters champion Fred Couples tied for low round of the day so far with a -4 par 68 to move him to -5 par for the tournament, Luke Donald also shot 68 and is at -4 par for the tournament.

Tiger Woods is on the course and has started bogey,birdie, bogey for his first three holes, and now is even par for the championship. Sacramento native nick Watney had it to -3 par after 5 holes today, but a couple of bogeys have dropped him back to -1 par. Stanford University’s amateur David Chung is currently at +4 and is serious danger to miss the cut, now at +1 par.
