The 2011 Masters, Live Coverage: K.J. Choi, Fred Couples Making a Friday Move Up the Leaderboard

The second round of the 2011 Masters is underway, and already there have been some movers and shakers moving around the leaderboard, most notably K.J. Choi and former Masters champion Fred Couples.

Choi started the day at -5 par, but three front 9 birdies have moved him into a share of the lead with Thursday’s co-leader Rory Mcilroy at -8 par. Couples is -4 par for today’s round through 12 holes; Freddy always seems to find the magic here at Augusta, finishing 6th place here last year, and hoping to improve on that this year.

Thursday’s other co-leader, Alvaro Quiros bogeyed the 9th to drop back to -7, defending champion Phil Mickelson has had an up and down day so far with 3 bogeys and 4 birdies to now sit at -3 par through 10 holes. Stockton native Ricky Barnes is in the thick of it at -6 par through 14 holes, Y.E. Yang is also right behind at -6 par through 15 holes.

Fresno State Alum Nick Watney has moved it to -2 par through 6 hole so far, while Stanford University amateur David Chung is now at +3 par with the projected cut currently sitting at +2.

Tiger Woods tees off at 1:48 p.m. EST (10:48 PST) looking to make a Friday charge up the leaderboard.
