The 2011 Masters, Thursday Morning In Round Update: Rory Mcilroy Leads at -7, Tiger Woods at +1

It’s about halfway through the day at Augusta National today and the scoring has been pretty low so far as 28 players are in red figures so far. But Rory Mcilroy has got off to a great start, currently sits atop the leaderboard and -7 par thru 16 holes with a perfect 7 birdies and no bogies thus far. He is followed by 2 time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen at -5 thru 15 holes, and Ross Fisher who has finished his day at -3.

Tiger Woods has had an up and down start so far as he sits at +1 thru 13 holes. He’s had only one birdies and 2 bogeys for the, has struggled off the tee and on the green. Not looking good so far for Tiger’s comeback this week, but he did shot a +4 40 in 1997 on his opening 9, the same year he broke the scoring record at the Masters.

Phil Mickelson is just getting started and is even thru the first hole, number one player in the world Martin Kaymer has really struggled at +4 thru 13, and Anthony Kim has stumbled out of the gate at +1 thru 3 holes, while Ricky Fowler sits at -1 thru 17 holes.

As for the ‘Bay Area boys’ as I’m going to call them, amateur invtiee and current Stanford University Junior David Chung shot a 3 birdie, 3 bogey even par 72 as Sacramento native Nick Watney shot even par as well. Stockton born Ricky Barnes is -1 thru 5 holes so far.
