Giants vs. Nationals, Series Preview: 4 Game Set in Nation's Capital Key to Giants Road Trip

After the San Francisco Giants took two out of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, the team is getting itself back on track after losing 4 in a row.  Now they continue their 10 game roadie with a stop in Washington D.C. to face the Nationals for a 4 game series in the Nation's capital.

The Giants will send the top of their rotation out to start the series with Tim Lincecum, Jonathan Sanchez, Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner set to face Jason Marquis, John Lannan, Jordan Zimmerman, and Tom Gorzelany respectively during this extended weekend set. Hopefully there will be some quality starts from the starters at Nationals Park, especially from Madison Bumgarner, who still is yet to record a win in 2011. The Giants have a 8-2 record all time at Nationals Park, with both of the losses coming last year (4-2 at Nationals Park in 2010). Don't expect the Nats to bow down to the defending champs though.

The Giants offense hasn't exactly been sizzling lately but they figured out how to scratch and claw their way to some wins in the Steel City. Their .243 team batting average is 19th in MLB, and their 95 runs is 24th in the league, not exactly striking fear in the hearts of opposing pitchers. But if they figure out how to get a few guys across the plate, they could turn their elongated road trip into a successful one before they even go to New York to play the Mets
