The Stanford Cardinal and California Golden Bears baseball squads are amongst the top 40 teams in all of the country, but currently are heading in opposite directions in the NCAA standings. Stanford took down the Bears on Monday by a score of 9-5, and actually played a big role in the current rankings both these teams own.
Stanford currently sits in 15th place in the NCAA rankings, up from 19th last week. They are 19-13 overall with 11 of those wins coming at home, while on the road they are a even 8-8. If it wasn't for their win over Cal on Monday, they probably wouldn't have made a move as they were 5-5 in their last 10 games.
As for Cal, they current reside in 37th place in the NCAA rankings, down from 34th last week. Their 24-12 record came mostly with wins at home, with a 7-4 clip on the road, 5-2 on a neutral field, and 12-6 at home.
The Cardinal will host Arizona State for a three game set starting Friday, the third ranked team in the NCAA right now. After that they will have a game against San Jose State next Tuesday at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Cal will host Oregon for a three game series starting Friday as well, followed by a meeting with Santa Clara in Santa Clara.
