With California looking to take high speed rail funding from Florida, one has to wonder a little bit about the impact this could have on the major Bay Area sports. Right now, Southern California and Northern California are pretty much split up into two enclaves, with only a long, winding, exhausting car trip down the I-5 the easiest way to move between each region. A train system that funnels through the valley, with the eventual promise of a San Francisco-Los Angeles connection.
↵With so many Bay Area fans working down in Los Angeles, could you imagine being able to take an hour and a half train ride up north to watch a San Francisco Giants or Oakland Athletics baseball game, then taking the ride back in one day? And this could be especially good news for NFL fans, who are transplanted all over the country and have to take long and winding roads back to watch San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders games. Ditto the connections back to LA. This could mean more sellouts for games and better flexibility for fans all across California to watch sports.
↵Should be fun to see how this develops.
