Time to take our first dose of March Madness! The Temple Owls and Penn St. Nittany Lions were pretty evenly matched as expected, and it came down to the final seconds in Tucson. Check out the video after the jump.
Talor Battle leapt out and took a big shot behind the arc to tie the game with 14.5 seconds left. It was his fifth three pointer of the game, as Battle finished with 23 points to lead Penn State back into it.
This set up Temple for the final shot. Juan Fernandez received the ball and took it down the court, and Tim Frazier seemed to defend him pretty well straight up. But Fernandez was patient, pivoted a couple of times, and finally spun forward, leaned into his shot, and delivered. Fernandez finished with 23 points on an efficient 13 shots (8 of 13, a perfect 6 of 6 from two point land, and 5 for 5 from the free throw line).
Temple moves onto the face the winner of Northern Colorado-San Diego State.
