2011 CIT Basketball Tournament Results: San Francisco Defeats Idaho, Faces Hawaii In Second Round

The San Francisco Dons extended their season for another few days as they defeated the Idaho Vandals in a first round matchup of the 2011 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). The Dons jumped on top with an early 10-2 lead and cruised to an 81-73 victory.

USF received a strong team effort as they had five different players reach double digit scoring. Rashad Green led the Dons with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in what qualifies as one of his best performances of the season. He was joined by 15 points apiece from Michael Williams and Perris Blackwell. Angelo Coloiaro added 11 points (and 12 rebounds) and Moustapha Diarra had 10 points. Idaho guard Jeff Ledbetter had 22 points but it was not enough to overcome the Dons.

San Francisco now moves on to face the Hawaii Warriors in Hawaii on Saturday night. This might not be the NCAA tournament, but a trip to Hawaii for some postseason basketball of any kind is not too shabby. Santa Clara also advanced and will host Air Force on Friday. The winners of second round matchups advance to the quarterfinals where four teams await following byes: East Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, Ohio, and Iona.
