Sacramento Kings "Here We Stay" Movement Grows As Relocation Deadline Extended To April 18

Your Sacramento Kings Week In Review

It's been a hard week to be a Kings fan. The team started it's post All-Star season by getting blown out by the Miami "Heatles", although they did rebound with one of their more impressive victories of the season with a road victory over the Orlando Magic. That was followed up by two disastrous performances against the Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies, culminating a road trip where Sacramento went 2-5.

However, the biggest issue has nothing to do with the team, but the city, which could be in danger of losing the Kings to relocation. The Kings have long been trying to get a new arena to move themselves out of the aging Arco, but those calls have been persisting for over a decade and have never come to fruition. The Maloof brothers, owners of the Kings, have been granted a deadline extension from March 1st to April 18th.

As a result, this should allow supporters of the Kings in Sacramento to further galvanize the community into building a new arena and keeping their team here. The "Here We Stay" movement was highly vocal on Monday night as they helped sell-out Arco in a Kings victory over the Clippers. Marcus Thornton looked great and could provide Sacramento with some much needed offense with the loss of Tyreke Evans for a few weeks and DeMarcus Cousins slowing down offensively as he hits the rookie wall.

The question is, will the community back it up in the long-run? It starts tomorrow night, at home, versus the Portland Trailblazers.
