Raiders' Richard Seymour, 49ers' Ahmad Brooks Collect Fines

NFL sponsored charities had a good week courtesy of some Bay Area players, as Raiders' defensive tackle Richard Seymour was fined $30,000 for punching Miami's Richie Incognito and 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was fined $15,000 for a roughing the passer penalty against St. Louis.

Raiders' Head Coach Hue Jackson had apparently tried to argue to the NFL that the 'punch' was incidental and happened in the battle along the teams' lines, but the NFL wasn't buying that argument. Taking Seymour's history into account, they tacked the fine on top of the fact that the Raiders' defensive tackle was ejected from the game on Sunday.

Seymour apologized for what happened, saying:

"I apologize to my teammates, coaching staff and the organization, also the Raider Nation. I'm disappointed that I wasn't there to finish the game with my teammates. I think that it's an emotional game and I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me. No excuses."

As for the 49ers Brooks, he was fined $15k for hitting the Rams' QB in the head/neck area, and as Mike Sando explains, "Brooks was previously fined $10,000 for a 2010 hit on Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton. That fine, like this one, was for hitting a quarterback in the head/neck area. Fines escalate with each new offense."
