According to the police report in the Telegram, the alleged assailant had an argument with Johnson's sister around 3 p.m. Monday and shot her several times. Johnsons' mother, 53-year-old Della Johnson, happened to be at her apartment complex and was also shot  but is expected to pull through. Head coach Hue Jackson had this to say about the matter:

"This is a game of football. The thing he's dealing with is a game of life. We'll get him back here pretty soon. Very, very tough situation that he's dealing with. But the organization supports him, I support him, he'll get back here and be ready to go."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Johnson family.
