The Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team hosted the USC Trojans on Saturday evening at the Maples Pavilion, in the second Pac-12 game for both teams. Stanford was able to pick up the win, 51-43. They are now 2-0 within conference play and hold a 12-2 record overall.
The story of the evening was the inconsistency from USC. The Trojans shot just 34.8% from the field in the game. The fact that the 34.8% is their third best FG% performance in December should tell you a little bit about how mightily USC has been struggling as of late.
The Cardinal trailed by eight points early in the game, but were able to bounce back. They headed to halftime up by a score of 31-25 and never looked back. Stanford guard Aaron Bright led all scorers with a career-high 16 points, seven of which came in the last five minutes of play. Josh Owens finished the night with 12 points, also picking up eight rebounds.
