Santa Clara Vs. Wagner Final Score: Broncos Lose Heartbreaker In Finals Of Cable Car Classic, 64-62

The Santa Clara Broncos men's basketball team dropped a painful loss to the Wagner Seahawks in the 45th Cable Car Classic on Friday night. Just a day after handily defeating the Eastern Michigan Eagles to advance to the championship game, the Broncos suffered their first home defeat 64-62 due to a last-minute shot by Kenneth Ortiz.

The Broncos looked like they were destined for another stunning victory to remain perfect at home as they closed the Wagner lead in the second half and came back from 15 points down in the final five minutes of play. Alas, it was not to be.

The Seahawks went on a 9-0 run to open the second half and eventually pushed their lead to 57-42 before Santa Clara mounted their comeback. The game was tied with mere seconds left before Ortiz sunk the game-winner following an offensive rebound while falling out of bounds.

Kevin Foster once again had a big game for the Broncos, finishing with 20 points. Their next game will be on January 5 against the Portland Pilots.
