The Saint Mary's Gaels traveled to San Luis Obispo on Saturday night to take on the Cal Poly Mustangs. When all was said and done, the Gaels were able to squeak out a 59-54 win to improve their early-season record to a sparkling 5-1 overall. They are now 1-1 on the road.
After falling behind 26-25 at halftime, Saint Mary's was able to hold the Mustangs off and come away with the win.Forward Rob Jones led all scorers with 18 points. He also managed a double-double by picking up 12 rebounds while being on the floor for 36 minutes. Fellow forward Brad Waldow scored 13 points. The other Saint Mary's player to record double digits in scoring was guard Matthew Dellavedova, with 10 points.
With the loss, Cal Poly now holds a respectable 5-3 record and are 2-2 when playing at home.
Saint Mary's will not play again until December 13, when they will host the Jackson State Tigers.
