The Santa Clara Broncos hosted the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Saturday night at the Leavey Center. The Broncos were able to come away with the decisive 71-58 win over the struggling Matadors, who fell to 1-6 overall and have yet to pick up a win on the road.
After a reasonably close 38-34 first half, Santa Clara pulled away to shut the door in the second half.
Santa Clara guard Kevin Foster led all scoring with 20 points, also recording seven rebounds and six assists. Evan Roquemore scored 11 points. Niyi Harrison contributed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Stephan Hicks of the led Matador scorers with 18 points, also picking up eight rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Santa Clara has yet to lose at home this season, improving to 5-2 overall with Saturday's win. Their next game will be on December 11, when they travel to take on the Washington State Cougars.
