Great Alaska Shootout 2011: USF Dons Rally, Fall In Final Minutes To Murray State

After trailing by eleven points at the half, the San Francisco Dons made a furious run in the second half. Unfortunately, it was not enough as USF fell for the second time in 2011 by a score of 70-67.

For the Dons, Rashad Green led the way with 23 points and shot 7-for-10 from the field. He contributed on the glass with five rebounds, though four turnovers in the second half hurt his team greatly. Cody Doolin added 18 points, hauled in five rebounds and dished out five assists, while Michael Williams contributed 10 points of his own.

Murray State's dynamic duo of Donte Poole and Isaiah Canaan were spectacular on Friday evening. Poole scored 22 points and hit four 3's, while Canaan scored 21 with four 3's of his own. Jewuan Long and Ivan Aska stepped up big in the second half, combining to score 22 points in a winning effort.

This is a tough loss for San Francisco, but their ability to battle back says a lot about the team. They will continue to improve throughout the year. The talent and experience is already in place.
