2011 Fry' Open: Third Round Suspended Due to Darkness

Ernie Els was making an afternoon charge when play was suspended at 6:41 pm at the Fry’ Open on Friday, meaning him and a number of other players will have to finish their second round early Saturday morning.

A two hour 20 minute fog delay in the morning caused the field to tee off late, leading to the unfinished third round. Els was -5 for the day thru 16 holes and -7 for the tourney when play was suspended, while Troy Matteson and Nathan Green were charging along, with Nathan also -7 for the day as well.

The entire field trails Paul Casey at the moment after his 64 shot him to the top of the leaderboard. Sacramento native Spencer Levin finished the day -4 for the tournament, while Stockton native Ricky Barnes finished at -2. Tiger Woods made the cut by a stroke, firing a 68 to come in at -1 for the tournament.

19 players find themselves within four shots of the lead in San Martin with just a little over two rounds left to play. The second round is set to resume at 7:30 am PT, Once a cut is finalized, players will be sent off split tees in threesomes in the third round to expedite play.
