Allen Craig, Cardinals Infielder And Cal Baseball Alum, The World Series Game 1 Winning Hit!

Allen Craig had a strong if not outstanding baseball career with the California Golden Bears, playing three years of baseball all around the infield, getting up to .305 in his junior season before moving on. After that, he was kind of forgotten in the farm system of the St. Louis Cardinals and was only brought up a year ago. Until now.

Craig was brought up for a pinch-hit situation, and with two strikes, he took a fastball from Rangers reliever Alexi Ogando and sent it down the right field line just short of the sliding Nelson Cruz. The hit drove home David Freese to put the Cardinals up 3-2, and they went onto win Game 1 of the World Series.
