Stanford vs. Washington: Cardinal Take On Red-Hot Huskies In Contest Of Top 25 Teams

Stanford faces its first AP Top 25 opponent of the year with the Huskies scheduled to visit Palo Alto this weekend.

The No. 8 Stanford Cardinal (6-0) maintained their undefeated record this season with a 44-14 road win over the Washington State Cougars on Saturday. This weekend, the Cardinal face another Washington opponent with the No. 25 Washington Huskies (5-1) coming to town.

The Huskies, coming off of an impressive 52-24 rout of Colorado, put on an offensive show (scoring 38 points by halftime) and find themselves in the AP Top 25 for the first time this season. The team continued its strong play from its previous game, when Washington went on the road and handed Utah a 31-14 loss.

Washington enters the game with a lot of momentum, but Stanford has been great at home this year. The Cardinal have averaged 50.0 points in the team's three home games so far and face a Washington defense that ranks 77th in the country, allowing 28.5 points per game. Quarterback Andrew Luck will get plenty of opportunities against the Huskies secondary if Washington does not tighten up defensively.

The game marks Stanford's first match-up of the tear against an AP Top 25 opponent. The Huskies present Stanford with a chance to make a statement on a national stage. The game is scheduled to air on ABC and ESPN 3 at 5:00 PT.
