We tend to overlook the St. Mary's Gaels of the Western Coast Conference, but they have been gaining notoriety as the most consistent college basketball teams in the Bay Area. With the California Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinal struggling through transition years, it's St. Mary's that has the national ranking (22nd in the AP, 21st in the Coaches). The Gaels currently sit at 16-2 heading into their toughest stretch of the season (at Vanderbilt Commodores, at Gonzaga Bulldogs, at Portland Pilots), these three games could make all the difference between a favorable seeding to the Dance or tumbling out of the tournament mix altogether.
But we're not here to talk about how good St. Mary's basketball finally has their own theme song, thanks to the efforts of Sally S Baby, Keyz and Shugz.
