The Oakland A’s will look to wrap up their three game series with a victory in tonight’s rubber match. Since being swept by the Yankees, the A’s have gone 3-2 and shaved 3 games off the division leading Rangers who have lost five straight. With a 4-game series during the final weekend of September, the A’s need to continue chopping away on the Rangers lead.
Tonight, the A’s send out Gio Gonzalez who has been pitching as well as any A’s starter at this point. Since getting blown by over 4 innings by the New York Yankees on July 7, Gonzalez has gone 6-2 over his last 10 starts, lasting at least six innings in each start. He looks for his 14th win of the season as he’ll be battling Luke French, who gave up 4 runs over 6 innings in his only other start against the A’s this season.
