A's Lose Series Finale 5-0, Drop 10 Back Of Rangers

The Oakland A’s slim playoff chances might have just been swept away by the New York Yankees. The A’s came into the series with slim hopes of potentially catching the division-leading Texas Rangers. Four games later the A’s were swept and dropped from 7.5 back to 10 back.

While I was probably being a bit optimistic about the A’s chances, crazier things had happened, and the team was in a position to make some noise in September. However, the Yankees overwhelming offense and four pitching performances ranging from solid enough to awesome were enough to remove the A’s from postseason consideration. While they are not mathematically eliminated at this point, one has to imagine the odds are slim and none, and slim just got swept out the door.
