The Oakland A’s look to accomplish a rare sweep of the Boston Red Sox as they look to finish their homestand at 7-2. They gained some ground on the Rangers earlier in the week but have seen the Rangers pull back-to-back comebacks against the Yankees to hold their ground on Oakland at 7.5 games difference.
The A’s send out Dallas Braden who was roughed up by the Mariners in his last start to the tune of six earned runs in five innings. He struggled through 4 2/3 innings against the Red Sox earlier this year and will look to put together a quality start for the A’s.
The Red Sox counter with Josh Beckett who’s 2010 season has been a bit of a mess. He’s given up three runs in each of his last three starts and is hoping to be settling down as the season starts to wrap up.
