A's Use Late Rally To Defeat Red Sox 4-3

The Oakland A’s bounced back to one game over .500 with a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The A’s trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh with the offense struggling. In the seventh, Daric Barton led off with a double, which was followed by back-to-back one out RBI singles by Jack Cust and Mark Ellis to tie the game. Two batters later Rajai Davis tripled to give the A’s a 3-2 lead.

The A’s added what would turn into a key insurance run on an eighth inning RBI single by Jack Cust. The Red Sox managed a two out RBI off Andrew Bailey before Bailey struck out David Ortiz to finish the game.

The A’s will wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon with Dallas Braden battling Josh Beckett. The A’s are currently seven games back of first while awaiting the results of the Yankees-Rangers battle. Texas leads 4-2 in the seventh and will be looking to maintain their ground for one more day.
