The Oakland A’s look to take the second game of this three game series with the Boston Red Sox in their endless bid to shake things up in the AL West. The A’s received yet another strong pitching performance from Trevor Cahill last night in defeating the Red Sox 5-0. Anderson will look for a repeat of his strong performance against the Mariners earlier this week.
The Red Sox send out John Lackey who is looking to gain some measure of consistency. Lackey has alternated strong and weak performances and will look to avoid that with a second straight strong outing. The Red Sox have struggled through injuries but sit with a .553 winning percentage that would put them in a tie with the Rangers. Unfortunately for them they sit in the same division as the Yankees and Rays and have to settle for third place at this point.
