Cal-UC Davis News & Updates: Donovan Edwards To Start At Right Tackle

Cal football is right around the corner, with the opening kickoff this Saturday vs. UC Davis. Keep up to date with this week's news on the Golden Bears home season opener!

With Matt Summers-Gavin still limited due to injuries, Donovan Edwards has been slated to start at right tackle. California Golden Blogs discusses this news.

As has been postulated for a few weeks, the talented offensive lineman will miss the opening game, according to the ever reliable Moraga Bear at Bear Insider. Edwards has had plenty of experience at RT (especially in 2008 when he took and over and started the last quarter of the season there), and the versatile senior should be plenty ready for Saturday's game.

It was later reported by Jonathan Okanes of the Contra Costa Times that Summers-Gavin is available, but will not start.

OL Matt Summers-Gavin took reps at practice this morning, but Jeff Tedford says he will not start. He could be available as a backup

His availability might depend on how difficult a time the Aggies are giving the Golden Bears.
