Cal left guard Matt Summers-Gavin became something of a barometer for the Bears in 2009. In the nine games he played in Cal went 8-1. In the four games he missed with injury? 0-4. So Cal fans were understandably worried when he left practice this weekend with an unknown knee injury.
Bear backers can all breath a huge sigh of relief because after some tests on Monday he was diagnosed with a bone bruise which should sideline him about two weeks. Considering that some feared a season-ending injury this comes as welcome tidings.
